This explains what we do with your information when you use this website or ask us to move freight for you. It is written in plain English on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ring the office on 08 9303 2110 and ask.
What we collect
When you fill in a form. Our contact form asks for your name, phone number, email address and a message. Our quote form asks for your name, phone number, email address, what you are shipping, where it is being collected from, what it is, its size and weight, and anything else you want to tell us. Only your name, email address and message are required. The rest helps us give you a useful answer.
When you email or ring us. Whatever you tell us, and the paperwork that goes with a shipment. For an actual job that usually means invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and the name and address of whoever is sending or receiving the goods.
When you simply visit the site. Our web host keeps ordinary server records, including your IP address, which browser you used and which pages you asked for. Our security software keeps IP addresses so it can block attacks.
Cookies and how we watch the website
We use three tools on this website, and all three set cookies.
- Google Analytics, so we can see how many people visit, which pages they read and roughly which part of the world they are in. We do not see who you are.
- Google Tag Manager, which is the plumbing that loads the other two.
- Microsoft Clarity. This one records a replay of your visit, where you moved, what you clicked and how far you scrolled, so we can see where the website confuses people and fix it. Microsoft stores it and keeps it for 30 days. We do not use it to identify anybody and we do not try to work out who a recording belongs to.
If you would rather not be included, most browsers will let you block or delete cookies, and there are browser add-ons that turn Google Analytics off. The website works fine without them.
What we use it for
- Answering your enquiry and quoting your freight.
- Arranging and tracking the shipment, and dealing with anything that goes wrong.
- Invoicing and keeping our business records.
- Meeting the rules we have to meet, including customs and biosecurity.
- Making the website easier to use.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use enquiry details to send marketing.
Who else sees it
Freight does not move without other people being told who you are. Depending on the job, we pass on what is needed to:
- Shipping lines, airlines and the transport companies that carry your goods.
- The licensed customs broker who clears your cargo. We are not a licensed customs brokerage and arrange clearance through one.
- Australian Border Force and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, where the law requires it.
- Ports, terminals and depots.
- Our agents at the other end of the shipment.
- Our accountant, our insurer and our own professional advisers.
We give them what the job needs and nothing more.
Information going overseas
If your freight is coming from or going to another country, your details go to that country. That is how international freight works. It usually means our agent there, the shipping line or airline, and that country’s customs authority.
The countries that come up most often for us are China, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Brunei, Turkey, Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Canada, the United States of America, Chile, Brazil, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Ghana, Angola, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand. It is not a closed list. If your freight goes somewhere else, your details go there instead.
Two of our website tools also store information outside Australia. Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager are run by Google, and Microsoft Clarity stores its recordings in Microsoft’s cloud.
Keeping it safe
Enquiries sent through the website are stored on the website and in our email. The site uses a secure connection, is kept up to date and runs security software. We take reasonable steps to protect what we hold, though no website anywhere can promise perfect security.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and shipment records for five years, which covers the job itself and the business, tax and customs records we have to hold afterwards. Microsoft Clarity recordings are deleted by Microsoft after 30 days.
Seeing what we hold, or correcting it
You can ask us what we hold about you and we will tell you. If something is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. If you want your enquiry deleted, ask and we will delete it, unless we have to keep it for a job in progress or for our records.
Email admin@rednav.com.au or ring 08 9303 2110. We will come back to you within a reasonable time, normally a few working days.
If you are not happy
Tell us first. Email admin@rednav.com.au with what happened and we will look into it and write back to you.
If you are still not satisfied, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, or ring them on 1300 363 992.
Changes
If we change how we handle information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
